Rams women's hockey returns on October 18
TORONTO — The Ryerson Rams women’s hockey team has officially released their 2019-20 regular season schedule.
After wrapping up the most successful postseason campaign in program history, the Rams will look to hit the ground running in October 2019. The team secured their first ever playoff series win last February, taking down the Queen’s Gaels with back-to-back overtime wins.
This year, the Rams are hoping to build on their momentum from last season. Ryerson’s quartet of 20+ point scorers will be returning to the team for yet another year, and the Rams will look to seize the opportunity to make a run at the McCaw Cup in 2020.
First up, the team will look to take down as many of their regular season opponents as possible. The Rams are set to hit the ice for their season opener on the road on Friday, October 18, 2019, against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks.
The team’s full 2019-20 schedule can be found here.
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2019 | RYERSON RAMS VS. TORONTO VARSITY BLUES, HOME OPENER
After opening their season with back-to-back games on the road, the Rams will return home on October 23 to take on the Toronto Varsity Blues on home ice.
Ryerson will welcome local schools for their annual first-semester women’s hockey school day matchup. The arena atmosphere will likely reflect the on-ice happenings, too; Ryerson and Toronto split last year’s season series with one win apiece, but a total of 19 goals were scored across two matchups.
If last year’s games were any indication of the results of this year’s home opener, attending students and fans alike will be in for quite an electric matchup.
Puck drop is set for 11:00 AM.
SUNDAY, JANUARY 12, 2020 | RYERSON RAMS VS. WATERLOO WARRIORS, GOLD BATTLE
Jumping ahead to second semester, the Rams will host the Waterloo Warriors on Sunday, January 12. Students will be slowly making their way back onto campus, and there’s no better way to spend a Sunday afternoon at Ryerson than at a Rams home game.
Like Toronto, Ryerson split their season series against Waterloo, but both games were extremely high scoring. The Rams will host the Warriors just once this season with the hopes of clinching three points from one of their most well-matched opponents.
Stay tuned for more details and initiatives tied into the January 12th matchup against Waterloo. The puck will drop at 2:15 PM.
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 2020 | RYERSON RAMS VS. LAURENTIAN VOYAGEURS, CLASH OF THE RIVALS
The Rams will host the Laurentian Voyageurs as they get ready to wrap up their regular season campaign on Friday, February 7. The Voyageurs have historically presented the Rams with a difficult matchup, but Ryerson has taken the win in each of their last four meetings.
Last year, the Voyageurs just barely missed out on the eighth and final playoff spot. No matter the standings, though, a Laurentian-Ryerson clash always makes for a great game.
Puck drop is set for 7:15 PM on Mattamy Home Ice.
