Rifle Teams Fall to North Georgia

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI men’s and women’s rifle teams lost a close battle hosting North Georgia at Kilbourne Hall on Saturday.

North Georgia left with the win tallying 4599 total aggregate points, with VMI men scoring 4507 aggregate points and the VMI women scoring 4408 points.

VMI freshman Alexander Allison led VMI by placing fifth among the top individuals, with senior teammate Hunter Jacob right behind him in sixth. Senior Kelia Aardema came in eighth, while freshman James Doucett placed tenth overall to round up the VMI presence among the top 10 individuals during the match.

In individual smallbore competition, Hunter Jacob scored 556 points and Kelia Aardema scored 555 points to earn fifth and sixth place, respectively. Allison earned an eighth-place finish with 553 points and Nick Reynolds earned 10^th by gaining 549 points. Claire Lee (11^th), Simon Krauthamer (12^th), James Doucett (13^th), Jessica Hankin (14^th), William Davidson (15^th), Stephen Garner (16^th), Samantha Reid (17^th), Savanah Diamond (19^th), and Cassidy Dufour (20^th) all represented VMI in smallbore competition.

For the air rifle competition, several Keydets earned a top ten finish. Alexander Allision scored 577 to earn fourth, with James Doucett tallying 575 points for fifth and Hunter Jacob, Jessica Hankin, and Samantha Reid each earning 573 points to place in the top ten. Kelia Aardema (12^th), Nick Reynolds (14^th), Lauren Dost (15^th), Claire Lee (16^th), Simon Krauthamer (17^th), Savanah Diamond (19^th), and Sarah Robertson (20^th) each represented VMI in the air rifle segment.

VMI will rest next weekend before traveling to Georgia Southern on Saturday, November 2.
