ATLANTA- Georgia State fell to Troy 3-1 in Saturday night’s contest at GSU Sports Arena. The loss dropped the Panthers to 5-10 and 1-3 in Sun Belt action.
Meisheia Griffin extended her double-digit kill streak to three matches with 11 in the four set effort. Dzemila Hadzic’s four kills made her the first Panther to notch 100 kills and digs this season.
Troy took the first three points of the opening set and would not look back en route to a 25-21 win. Despite Georgia State’s four blocks, Troy would continue find holes deep in GSU territory.
During the second frame the Panthers held the Trojans to an under .000 hitting percentage. Sydney Stroud, Madelyn Ott, and Griffin would each add two kills. A service error by Troy would secure the 25-20 Georgia State win.
Troy’s offense would adjust in the third. The Trojans would earn a .389 hitting average compared to Georgia State’s .056 in the frame. Troy cruised to a 25-14 win.
Kampbell Hehr would dish out seven assists in the fourth, but it would not be enough to slow down the Trojans. With the match tied 10-10, the Trojans would pull away to clinch the 25-17 victory and the match.
The Panthers will face the Sun Belt’s Texas schools next weekend on the road. Georgia State will return to GSU Sports Arena on October 18 at 6:30 p.m.
