
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The VMI co-ed rifle team earned another win against host Wofford College at the Taylor Center Rifle Range in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
VMI totaled 4504 aggregate points for first place and second place went to Wofford with 4454 total points.
Freshman Alexander Allison was the top individual for the match with 1135 aggregate points. Seniors Hunter Jacob and Kelia Aardema placed third and fourth among top individuals scoring 1123 and 1122 points, respectively. Senior Nick Reynolds and freshman James Doucett placed ninth and tenth with 562 and 560 points.
In air rifle competition, Allison scored 569 points for second place with Kelia Aardema scoring 566 for fourth. Reynolds earned a sixth-place finish with 562 points. Doucett scored 560 points for eighth and Jacob placed 10th with 553 points.
For the smallbore match, Jacob led the individuals with 570 points to earn first and Allison scored 566 points for second. Aardema and William Davidson earned fourth and fifth with 556 and 555 points, respectively. Stephen Garner placed ninth with 532 points.
The VMI rifle teams will take the rest of the calendar year off and resume competition at The Citadel on Saturday, Jan. 25.
