Rifle Teams Fall to UAB

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI rifle teams lost at home in a close match against UAB at Kilbourne Hall Saturday morning.

UAB earned the first-place spot with 4547 aggregate points, with the VMI co-ed team placing second with 4500 points and the VMI women’s team placing third with 4363 aggregate points.

Freshman Alexander Allison had another great showing by earning third place among the top individuals with 1134 aggregate points. Seniors Hunter Jacob (1129) and Kelia Aardema (1112) placed fifth and eighth, respectively. Sophomores Samantha Reid and Jessica Hankin earned a ninth and 10th-place finish among top individuals.

In smallbore competition, Stephen Garner (559) and Alexander Allison (558) earned a third and fourth place finish. Simon Krauthamer (555) and Hunter Jacob (552) finished sixth and seventh, with William Davidson (551) and Kolton Dobson (550) placing ninth and tenth to round out the top ten smallbore individuals. Kelia Aardema (11^th), Samantha Reid (13^th), Claire Lee (14^th), Jessica Hankin (15^th), Nick Reynolds (16^th), Savanah Diamond (17^th), and Lauren Dost (18^th) all represented VMI in smallbore competition.

During the air rifle competition, Hunter Jacob (577), Alexander Allison (576), Nick Reynolds (566), and Jessica Hankin (565) earn third, fourth, ninth, and tenth place finishes, respectively. Kelia Aardema (11^th), Claire Lee (12^th), Samantha Reid (13^th), James Doucett (14^th), Mason Tarkenton (15^th), Nicholas Schaefer (16^th), Lauren Dost (17^th), Savanah Diamond (18^th), and Cassidy Dufour (19^th) each represented VMI in air rifle competition.

The VMI rifle teams stay at home next week to host Wofford at Kilbourne Hall.
