Charlotte, N.C. – The Charlotte 49ers (7-5) play five matches over the next eight days beginning with a road match at Limestone in Gaffney, South Carolina, Sunday, April 3 at 1:30 pm. Charlotte plays three homes matches this week. On Monday, April 4, Charlotte plays Gardner-Webb at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex, at 3:30 pm. The 49ers return to the road playing at Davidson, Wednesday, April 6 at 3 pm. Then the 49ers play their final two home matches of the season. Charlotte plays Appalachian State at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex, Friday, April 8 at 2:30 pm. Then, the 49ers play Lenoir-Rhyne on Senior Day, Sunday, April 10 at 1 pm. Prior to the Lenoir-Rhyne match, the 49ers will honor seniors Vikram Hundal and Jordi Massalle Ferrer who are playing in their final home match.
“This week is a big one for us,” Charlotte coach Jesse Tarr said. “We play five matches in eight days, all where we will be pushed. We are playing good tennis and are ready to compete.”
Oriol Puig Forne leads the 49ers with 11 singles wins. Vikram Hundal has 10 singles wins including seven in dual matches at number one singles. Jordi Massalle Ferrer, who recently broke Charlotte’s career singles and doubles victories records, also has 10 singles wins with seven of those wins coming at number two singles. Sam Rice has nine singles wins playing at either number three, four or five singles. Jensen Martin had eight singles wins playing at number six singles. Alejandro Garcia Moreno has recorded seven singles wins with five of those wins coming at number three singles.
The 49ers number one doubles team of Hundal and Massalle Ferrer have tallied a team-leading 15 doubles victories. The doubles teams of Sam Rice and Sam Brazil has six doubles wins. Josh Aubrey and Carl Solik have tallied five doubles wins.
