Long-Time Booster Jim Lamborn Passes
KALAMAZOO -- Former Western Michigan Athletics long-time fan and booster Jim Lamborn passed away on May 3, 2016. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Life Story Funeral Home in Plainwell.
Lamborn attended Western Michigan on the GI Bill after serving in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. After settling down in Plainwell and working in the banking industry he began a 48-year commitment to working with the Mike Gary Athletic Fund, helping raise money for Western Michigan student-athletes.

Lamborn was honored with the WMU Athletics Distinguished Leadership Award in 2015.
"It is with great sadness that pass on our condolences to the family and friends of Jim Lamborn," said WMU Director of Athletics Kathy Beauregard. "Jim was a passionate Bronco and did tremendous work for the Mike Gary Athletic Fund and helped raise money for 48 years."
Jim’s family includes his wife of 57 years, Marilyn; children: Brett (Nancy) Lamborn, Brooks (Kimberly Koenig) Lamborn, Bruce Lamborn; two brothers: Dick (Kathy) Lamborne and Doug (Jan) Lamborne and a brother-in-law: Jack (Gloria) Noble; two grandsons: Alexander (Mary Beth) and Channing Lamborn; two great-grandsons: Zaiden and Nolan Lamborn as well as several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Per his request memorial donations can be made to the WMU Mike Gary Athletic Fund or the Alzheimer's Association.
