KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's tennis team was named an All-Academic Team by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and Denise Azcui, Tracy Kuhle and Melina Lyubomirova were named Scholar Athletes.

The team had a combined GPA of 3.53 to once again earn the honors.

"We are always stressing the term student-athlete and what it takes to be one," said head coach Ryan Tomlinson. This award is something we talk about as a team at beginning of each season."

Individually Azcui led the team with a 4.0 GPA while undecided on her major. Kuhle was just behind her with a 3.97 in marketing and Lyubomirova boasts a 3.71 GPA in business.

"The three individuals in Denise, Melina and Tracy led the way," Tomlinson added. "They are a great representation of Western Michigan University and our program."
