Women's Soccer Announces 2016 Schedule
KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan soccer team and head coach Lauren Sinacola have announced the 2016 schedule on Wednesday afternoon.
The schedule features four home non-conference games before Mid-American Conference play that features six home dates.
"We have a very tough non-conference schedule that will do a great job of preparing us for the always difficult Mid-American Conference schedule," said Sinacola, who heads into her first year at the helm.
The reigning MAC Tournament Champions open the season at IUPUI in an exhibition match on Aug. 12 at 5 p.m. The team opens the regular season on Aug. 21 at home against IPFW at 4 p.m.
The Broncos head out on the road for the first time at Indiana on Aug. 21 and then at national powers Notre Dame on Aug. 28 at 5 p.m. The three-game road trip continues on Sept. 2 at Oakland for a 7 p.m. start.
WMU closes out its non-conference portion with three home games in its final four, hosting Western Illinois on Sept. 4, Valparaiso on Sept. 11 and DePaul on Sept. 16.
MAC play opens with the Broncos hosting MAC West rivals Eastern Michigan on Sept. 23 and then Central Michigan on Sept. 25. The team then plays its next three on the road at Ohio, Kent State and Ball State before returning to the WMU Soccer Complex for three home games. A rematch of the 2015 MAC Tournament Championship takes place in Kalamazoo on Oct. 9 at 1 p.m. against Miami, WMU then hosts Buffalo on Oct. 14 and Akron on Oct. 16.
The Broncos make trips to Bowling Green and Toledo before closing out the regular season against Northern Illinois at home on Oct. 27 at 3 p.m.
