Broncos Suiting Up With Kalamazoo FC, Premier Summer Teams
KALAMAZOO, Mich.- A number of current Western Michigan men's soccer players can be seen out in action this summer playing in summer development leagues.
In total, 18 Broncos are suiting up on summer teams, with 16 of those being featured on rosters in the state of Michigan.
WMU has 14 players in the National Premier Soccer League (NSPL), split between teams in Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, Lansing and Ann Arbor. Three Broncos are playing in the Premier Development League (PDL), two on the Michigan Bucks and one with the Chicago Fire. WMU also has one player in Kansas on a U19 Academy team.
A complete list of current Broncos and their summer team is below. Several former Broncos can also be seen around these leagues, both playing and coaching.
The NSPL and PDL are considered to be the top level of men's amateur soccer competition in the United States. Collegiate players can participate on these teams without affecting NCAA eligibility.
The Kalamazoo FC is in its first year of existence and plays its home games at Mayors' Riverfront Park. A previous PDL team, the Kalamazoo Outrage was active from 2007-2010.
