Dotson, Dulaney, Gaines and Ruffin Named First Team All-MAC
CLEVELAND -- Sarita Dotson, Naiomi Dulaney, Ayiana Gaines and Diajah Ruffin have all been named First Team All-Mid-American Conference for their performance in the 2016 Outdoor MAC Championship over the weekend.
All four earned the First Team honors for leading the 4x400-meter relay team to a MAC title. They combined to run a time of 3:42.09 for one of the most exciting races of the meet.
Ruffin ran the lead off leg and kept the squad in the middle of the pack. Dulaney then took the baton and was able to keep pace before handing it off to Dotson. Dotson fought through her injury and was able to hand the baton to Gaines with the team in fifth place at the exchange. Gaines, as she does, took over the race and passed four teams to take the title.
Gaines, who earns First Team All-MAC for the fourth time in her two years when accounting for indoor, also took first place in the 400-meter dash after crushing the competition with a time of 53.02 seconds.
