DURHAM, N.C.— After having all but one incoming freshman in Durham for the second session of summer school, the foursome is now together as the group prepares to go through freshman orientation and start classes Monday, Aug. 26 for the 2019-20 school year.

Jaida Patrick, Azana Baines, Jennifer Ezeh and Jada Claude are now settled into their dorms and looking to make an impact on and off the court for the Blue Devils.

Meet the Rookies:

Azana Baines
6-1 * Guard * Blackwood, N.J. (Gloucester Catholic H.S.)

Senior Year Stats/Honors:
The 2019 Courier Post, Gloucester County Times and Al Carino Basketball Club Player of the Year ... one of five finalists for the New Jersey State Player of the Year ... closed her high school career with 1,751 points ... averaged 20.0 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 3.7 assists as a senior ... collected 12 games with 20 or more points and two contests with 30 or more ... scored a season-high 30 points ... hit 55.0 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from three-point land ... notched 19 double-doubles over three seasons with Gloucester Catholic ... 2017-18 South Jersey Times Girls Basketball and Courier Post Player of the Year … South Jersey MVP in 2017-18 … an All-Non-Publis First Team selection in 2018 … earned Second Team All-State in 2018.

Jada Claude

Region, County and Georgia Athletic Coaches Association (GACA) All-State 5A South Player of the Year in 2018-19 ... averaged 20.2 points, 14.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.8 blocks per game ... completed her high school career as the only player in school history with over 1,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 250 blocked shots for both boys and girls ... tallied 1,382 points, 1,217 rebounds, 254 blocks and 149 steals over her four seasons with Whitewater ... added 52 double-doubles over her career ... received GHSA All-State Class 5A, Atlanta Journal Constitution (AJC) All-Metro and AJC All-State First Team accolades ... earned GHSA All-State Class 5A Best Rebounder ... notched 22 double-doubles ... registered four games with over 20 points and 20 rebounds and two contests with more than 30 points and 20 rebounds ... totaled 10 games with 20 or more points and three 30-point contests ... registered a career-high 38 points in January against Jonesboro to go along with 23 rebounds, five blocked shots and one assist ... pulled down 20 or more rebounds in five games, including a career-high 26 versus Griffin ... swatted 70 shots on the year with a season-high five on four different occasions.

NACA Basketball All-America in 2019 ... an All-Metropolitan Girls Basketball Player in 2019 ... as a senior, averaged 15.5 points and 10.1 rebounds ... swatted 30 shots and had five double-doubles on the season ... GIECO Nationals All-Tournament Award in 2019 ... selected to the Rose Classic and Allen Hoops Feast All-Tournament Teams in 2018.

Jaida Patrick
5-10 * Guard/Forward * West Haverstraw, N.Y. (Saddle River Day)

Senior Year Stats/Honors:
Averaged 15.3 points, 11.7 rebounds, 5.8 steals, 3.5 assists and 2.7 blocks in 16 games ... had to sit out first half of the season, before becoming eligible ... collected 16 points and 10 boards to help Saddle River Day to its fourth straight Bergen County title ... registered a career-high 24 points against Manchester Township in the TOC semifinals ... totaled nine double-doubles and a triple-double versus Lodi Immaculate with 17points, 15 rebounds and 10 steals.
