Stars of the Week
TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams are pleased to announce the following student-athletes as the Stars of the Week, ending September 8.
Aidan Dolan - Baseball - 3rd Year - English
The third year slugger had an impressive opening week to the baseball season, racking up a 0.529 batting average over the course of five games. Included in his numbers are six runs batted in (RBIs) and six runs scored. Dolan also showcased his versatility defensively, taking over at third base from his usual first base position.
Anthony Fera - Baseball - 3rd Year - Accounting & Finance
Fera was a run producing machine in the first week of the OUA baseball schedule as he racked up an impressive nine RBIs in five games, including a grand slam home run in his first at bat of the season. He finished the week with a 0.529 batting average and scored four runs after playing in every inning so far this season.
Muaz Saleh - Soccer - 3rd Year - Mechanical Engineering
Saleh is quickly becoming one of the Rams most dangerous offensive players as he scored his team-leading third goal of the season on Saturday in a 1-0 win over Queen's. Those three goals have him in a six-way tie for the OUA lead early in the season.
Abby Thompson - Fastpitch - 3rd Year - Social Work
A third year veteran with the Rams, Thompson had a great start to her season this weekend, posting a .500 batting average with 10 hits, including four doubles. Thompson drove in six runs and had several key hits to help the team defeat Waterloo and Guelph this weekend. She also played solid defensively at both second and third base.
BreAnah Webster - Soccer - 3rd Year - Arts & Contemporary Studies
After starting the season with a pair of assists, Webster netted her first goal of the season this week with the game-winning strike in a 3-0 win over RMC. Webster, traditionally a defender, was moved around the pitch in both games this weekend to try and find an offensive spark and the third year delivered. Webster now leads the team with her three points.
Alessia Zito - Soccer - 3rd Year - Philosophy
Starting in her first OUA game, third year keeper Alessia Zito turned in an exceptional performance to earn her first victory and first clean sheet of her career. Zito made two saves in her win over RMC and helped keep the back line organized and in position to thwart many of RMC's chances before they developed.
