Cougarettes Excite Market Street with Flash Mob
CHARLESTON, S.C. – A car seemingly broken down on the busy Market Street of downtown Charleston did little to attract the attention of the bustling Saturday-afternoon crowd of tourists and shoppers; until the unattended vehicle started to blare Michael Jackson’s Thriller quite audibly from its sound system.
The crowd murmured about the unexpected sound, but didn’t deem that it was too out of the ordinary, yet.
A girl emerged from the crowd and, as she nodded her head in rhythm to the music, moved to the center of a miniaturized-amphitheater built into the Market Street sidewalk. She was joined by two others, then three others, then three more, and suddenly over a dozen girls were spontaneously standing in formation and nodding in unison.
As a crowd gathered and the music started to pick up, the onlookers began to suspect this was not a random occurrence and started to snap photos and videos from their cameras and cell phones.
Suddenly, the College of Charleston Cougarettes broke into dance and executed their coordinated movements and rehearsed dance moves to perfection as the bewildered onlookers stopped in the street to watch and cheer.
The Cougarettes teamed with Bulldog Tours, Charleston’s premier walking tour company to spark the flash mob and entertain the unsuspecting passersby.
Don’t miss the chance to see the Cougarettes in action this season as they perform at all of the home men’s and women’s basketball games at TD Arena!
