GREENSBORO, N.C.- In their first ever meet as a varsity sport at VMI, the Keydet women's swimming team won two events while falling by a 45-29 score to Northeast Conference rival North Carolina A&T Saturday afternoon at the Corbett Sports Center.

Junior Erin Hottle won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:37.34 while freshman Becky Harris won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 6:19.27.

For the hosts, sophomore Shanell Thomas was a double-winner, placing first in the 50-yard freestyle (26:31) and the 100-yard freestyle (1:02.20). Sophomores Asha el-Shair won the 100-yard butterfly (1:11.41) and Gia Wright won the 100-yard breastroke (1:09.96).

Senior Sujotta Pace won the 200-yard freestyle (2:28.50) and junior Kirstin Lewis won the 100-yard backstroke (1:12.40). The Aggies won the 200-yard medley relay (1:59.81) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:57.22).

The Keydets return to action on Saturday, Oct. 22, when they travel to Norfolk to compete at Old Dominion. The meet is scheduled for 1 p.m.
