There will also be an opportunity for clinic attendees to take in a Cal football spring practice Saturday afternoon at Witter Rugby Field on the Cal campus from 1:00 - 3:30 p.m.
Attendees can save by registering early or as a group of five or more with a $30 rate for all registration forms postmarked by Friday, March 30, with early registration for groups $25 each. Registration is also available at the door for $35 per person at the Hilton Garden Inn beginning at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 6. Reservations for the Hilton Garden Inn can be made by calling 510-658-9300. Mention the "Cal Football Clinic" to receive a special room rate.
The clinic is a great opportunity for coaches to network as well as learn from Cal football head coach Jeff Tedford, the winningest coach in school history. Tedford has established Cal as one of the elite football programs in the Pac-12 and lifted the Golden Bears into the national discussion on a consistent basis during his tenure as head coach. Now in his 11th season at the helm in 2012, he has led the Bears to the third-most Pac-12 victories over his first decade, ranking among the nation's top 25 in the final rankings four times as well as in the top 10 at some point in the season on five occasions.
Cal posted a school-record run of seven straight bowl appearances from 2003-09 and has played in a bowl game eight times in the last nine campaigns. Cal is 5-3 in the postseason under Tedford, including a school-record string of four consecutive postseason wins from 2005-08, making him the only Cal mentor with more than two bowl victories. The Bears also won enough games to be bowl eligible with a seven-victory season in his first campaign in 2002 but were ineligible for a bowl. In addition, Cal put together a school-record-tying eight consecutive winning campaigns from 2002-09 and added a ninth last season to begin another streak. Cal has twice posted a school-record-tying 10 wins under Tedford, the sixth and seventh times in school history, in 2004 and 2006.
Tedford has posted a career record of 79-48 (.622) in a school-record 127 games at Cal. He is also the school's all-time leader for victories in conference games (48), road contests (28) and bowls (5). To top it off, he is 7-3 in the Big Game, equaling Pappy Waldorf's school record of seven wins against Stanford.
The Bears have had 36 players selected in the NFL Draft, including eight first-round picks, during the 10 drafts that have occurred since Tedford has been the head coach at Cal. Cal's 29 current active NFL players rank second among Pac-12 schools according to ESPN.com.
In addition to Tedford, other clinic speakers will include the entire Golden Bears' coaching staff, as well as junior college and high school coaches, and special guests to be announced soon.
