
LEXINGTON, Va. – After another stellar season, VMI senior defender Kyle Walsh was named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) South All-Star Team as announced by the organization Wednesday.
The USILA North-South All-Star game will be held this Friday, May 24, at the US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland. The Division I/II game begins at 7:30 p.m. with admission free of charge.
In 2019, Walsh was named a first team All-Southern Conference defender for the second straight season as he finished his illustrious VMI career ranked No. 2 all-time in the record book in career groundballs with 253. He also finished second in the nation in caused turnovers per game with 3.23 per match.
A team captain, Walsh started all 13 games and ranked first on the team in both groundballs (62) and caused turnovers (42). He scored three goals on the year and tallied three assists for six points, the most of his VMI career for a season.
The coaching staff headed by Brian Brecht of Rutgers University will lead the USILA South team. Attack Teddy Hatfield of Richmond was named to the team as well as Trent Harper and Brandon Jones of Air Force to represent the Southern Conference.
