CofC Beach Volleyball Wins Two On Final Day of Tourney

DELAND, Fla. – The College of Charleston beach volleyball team defeated Eckerd, 3-2, and UNCW, 4-1, before falling to Stetson, 5-0, on Sunday at the Stetson Spring Break Invitational.

College of Charleston 3, Eckerd 2

The Cougars’ 3, 4 and 5 pairings carried the team to a 3-2 win over Eckerd in the first match of the day. McKala Rhodes and Krissy Mummey earned a hard-fought three-set win while Taylor Foley and Kennedy Madison teamed up to take two straight as well did Devon Rachel and Allison Beckman.

College of Charleston 4, UNCW 1

CofC dropped just one point to UNCW as Melissa Morello and Kayla Tronick grinded out a three-set win as the No. 1 pairing. Katja Ehlers and Maddie Hills also went three sets to earn a point, while Krissy Mummey and McKala Rhodes swept their match. Allison Beckman and Devon Rachel won in two sets as well.

No. 10 Stetson 5, College of Charleston 0

No. 10 Stetson shutout the College in the nightcap. Melissa Morello and Kayla Tronick battled to the third set, but ultimately fell and dropped the point.

Next up, College of Charleston hosts the CofC Beach Invitational March 18-20 at Creekside Club in Mt. Pleasant.
