RICHMOND, VA. – The Colonial Athletic Association announced the brackets for the CAA Tennis Championships today, revealing the CofC men (16-6) were named the No. 2 seed and the CofC women (15-11) the No. 4 seed.
The men’s squad emerged as the second seed in the tournament, and will face the No. 7 seeded James Madison Dukes on Friday at 1 p.m. The two squads met in mid-March at Patriots Point, where the Cougars soundly dispatched JMU by a tally of 7-0. The Dukes have gone 9-11 this season, sporting a 1-4 record against CAA opponents.
The women were named the fourth seed in the women’s bracket, meaning they will play the No. 5 seeded UNCW Seahawks on Friday at 9 a.m. The Cougars faced UNCW previously in their regular season finale on the road in Wilmington, where CofC pulled off the narrow 4-3 win. The Seahawks finished the regular season with a 9-8 record, and sported a 3-3 record vs. CAA teams.
The women’s match will take place at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on the Owens courts. The men meanwhile will have their opening match four miles down the road at the Burlington Tennis Center. Following the opening round on Friday, all subsequent matches will be played at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
The CAA championship begins Thursday, and runs through the championship matches on Sunday.
