CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston equestrian team is now atop the IHSA Zone 5 Region 3 team standings after an impressive win at Lander University on Saturday in Greenwood, SC.
The Cougars won the day with 36 points followed by Clemson with 29 points. Senior Victoria Bauer was the high-point rider for the day and has taken the lead in the regional Cacchione Cup standings.
“The team rode quite well today,” CofC head coach Bob Story said. “We struggled a bit in the fall, but the win at home in November really put into focus what we had to do to consistently win. The horses were a little tough on Saturday, but the girls rode them beautifully and it paid off for them in the placings. We are in a great position heading into Georgia Southern next weekend.”
