CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston equestrian team opens its 2015-16 campaign at the Georgia Southern Show in Statesboro on Saturday.
The squad has finished in the top five in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Nationals in each of the last two seasons and has aspirations to top that mark this season.
“None of us have any doubt that we can come out first at Georgia Southern” senior Jenna Terribile said of the upcoming season. “We have a great group returning and a great group of freshmen, and there is no doubt that we can come out on top.”
The College took first at all of its regular season shows before placing second in the IHSA Zone 5 Finals to earn its 25th trip to nationals. The fifth place finish left Cougar riders motivated for more.
“We keep that fifth place (finish) in the back of our heads,” junior Julie Folkman said. “Of course, we’re rooting for No. 1 the whole time, but we go out and do the best we can; we know what we can do.”
