Bulldog fans will have the pleasure of following their favorite team throughout the 2009 season on the Georgia Bulldog Radio Network from ISP Sports, which will feature one of the nation’s best-known flagship stations, an affiliate list that ranks among the country’s largest, and production supplied by the premier college sports marketing and radio production company in America.
ISP provides radio network production for more than 30 major college athletic programs in the SEC and other prominent conferences across the United States. Day-to-day management of the network will be overseen by the company’s “Georgia Sports Properties” staff in Athens, which also handles the sales and marketing of Bulldog sports.
The voices at the network’s microphones will be familiar ones to listeners. Play-by-play man Scott Howard returns for his 16th season covering Bulldog football and basketball, while former UGA record-setting quarterback Eric Zeier is back to provide his insightful analysis. Sideline reporter Loran Smith also returns, along with Neil “Hondo” Williamson, his co-host of the popular pre-game tailgate show prior to each game broadcast.
The network flagship is Atlanta’s News/Talk 750 WSB, which provides Bulldog followers and all college football fans with a signal reaching more than 35 states and Canada. All games will also be available via the Internet (at georgiadogs.com) on a subscription basis.
Bulldog fans throughout the world can also listen to each broadcast via the Internet by logging onto http://www.gxtra.com (Subscription Required)
The voice of Scott Howard has become synonymous with Georgia athletics. As sports director for Athens radio stations WNGC and WGAU, he returns for his 16th season behind the microphone at both Georgia football and basketball games. Howard began his association with Bulldog football as a color analyst alongside Larry Munson in the 1994 season. In 2007 he broadcasted play-by-play action in all of Georgia's road football games, and last season he became the program's primary radio voice by the third game.
Howard has served as the Georgia basketball team's primary play-by-play reporter since the 1997 season. A 1984 UGA graduate, he also announced Georgia baseball games from 1990-96.
One of Georgia's greatest quarterbacks ever, Zeier begins his third season as a color analyst on the network. By the end of his senior season in 1994, he held 67 school passing records and 18 marks in the Southeastern Conference. Zeier played in the NFL from 1996 to 2001 with the Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens, Tampa Bay Bucs, and Atlanta Falcons.
In addition to his broadcasting duties, Zeier is a Regional Vice President for Bank of America.
A native of Wrightsville, Ga., Smith continues his long association with the Georgia Network broadcasts as host and producer of the popular pre-game "Tailgate Show." He also serves as the network's sideline color commentator.
A former Bulldog MVP and track captain, Smith has had varied responsibilities with the UGA Athletic Association over the years, including assistant sports information director, business manager of athletics and executive director of the Georgia Bulldog Clubs.
A UGA graduate and veteran of more than 25 years of sports broadcasting in Georgia, Williamson co-hosts the Network's "Tailgate Show" with Loran Smith and also hosts halftime features. He is presently the Director of AM Marketing and Director of Sports Marketing for top-rated WSB-AM in Atlanta.
