Tomlinson Stadium/Kell Field - Home of the Red Wolves

The home of Arkansas State University baseball team is regarded as one of the top facilities in the Sun Belt Conference.  Tomlinson Stadium has provided the Red Wolves with a decided home-field advantage while giving fans an inviting and multi-perspective view of top-flight NCAA Division I action. 

The Tom features a seating capacity of 1,200 but can accommodate many more with picnic areas located along both foul lines and the recent addition of the Bartons Baseball Deck located in the right field corner. The field has symmetrical dimensions with a 335-foot mark down both foul lines and a 400-foot mark to centerfield. 

The playing surface at Kell Field is grass with a dirt infield and an artificial surface around home plate. Former A-State coach Richard Johnson is honored with his initials on the right side of home plate on the artificial surface. 

Home Field Success  

- Since the Tomlinson Stadium opened in 1993 the Red Wolves have an all-time record 366-253.

- In the Tommy Raffo era, A-State has an all-time record of 88-59 at home.

- The stadium is named for A-State pioneer J.A. 'Ike' Tomlinson who served as the head baseball coach at Arkansas State for 29 years and went on to be the school's Director of Athletics.

- The field is named for former Major League baseball player George Kell who was a constant contributor to the A-State baseball program throughout his life.


Red Wolves Locker Room

Arkansas State features a newly-renovated spacious locker room with provides comfort and to the Red Wolves' student-athletes.  An expanded locker area featuring brand-new custom lockers which each student-athletes's name and number is one of the many highlights.  Each locker features has its on personal lock box with a combination lock and an engraved wolf head logo on each box.

Some lockers are also sponsored by former Arkansas State baseball players that feature their name and year of graduation on a special plate in the back of the locker. It is a special way for current Red Wolves players to connect with the great history of the baseball program.

The locker room also features a new sound system and three televisions in the center of the room for easy viewing from any area of the room. A state of the art sound system with speakers throughout the locker room was also installed prior to the start of the 2014 season. 


Strength and Conditioning

Arkansas State's success on the baseball field can be attributed to many aspects with one being a first-class weight room facility.  The facility has been recently remodeled and served as the primary strength and conditioning facility for the A-State football, baseball, bowling and tennis teams. An auxiliary weight room is located in the Convocation Center and can be used as well.  

Indoor Facility

The Arkansas State indoor facility has two hitting cages that allow for batting practice should the weather force the team inside. It also has an elevated pitching mound for pitchers to throw off of and a hitting machine and a number of tees for practice. The area also serves as the primary meeting area for the team and can serve as the team's film room.
