Corey Davis Named to Walter Camp Award Watch List
KALAMAZOO – Western Michigan wide receiver Corey Davis has been named to the Walter Camp Award Watch List, the Walter Camp football foundation announced today. The award is given to the “Player of the Year” across all positions. Davis is just one of 40 players in the country across all positions to be nominated for the honor and just one of two MAC players.
In addition to being the leading active receiver in the country, Davis is currently 26th in FBS history and fourth in MAC history, just 400 yards away from the all-time record in MAC receiving yards, held by Jordan White who finished his Bronco career with a league-best 4,187 yards.
Last season, Corey finished fifth in the country and was second in the MAC with 1,436 yards and was 11th in the country with 12 TDs. He ended the season with seven straight 100-yard games, including eight catches for 183 yards and an 80-yard touchdown in the Broncos’ first bowl win in program history over Middle Tennessee State.
Earlier this month, Davis was named to the Bilentnikoff Award and Maxwell Award watch lists. During the offseason, he was also named the top senior wide receiver in the country according to ESPN’s Mel Kiper and CBS Sports.
