Position: Associate AD/Academic Services

Becky Bowman came to Clemson in August, 1998 as the director of compliance until May 2005 when she was named Associate Athletic Director for Academic Services and director of Vickery Hall, Clemson's student-athlete academic center.

During her tenure, the Vickery staff has expanded to provide better services for student-athletes and coaches. Student-athlete to advisor ratios have been reduced, with most advisors serving two teams. The number of learning specialists has doubled and the tutoring program has expanded with one staff member dedicated to this important function. Over 115 tutors are available to student-athletes in any subject area

The Vickery Hall services have been certified by the National Association of Athletic Academic Advisors (N4A), one of the first in the country to be certified. In its findings the N4A commended the program for its tutoring program and services for students who may be academically underprepared for the rigorous Clemson classroom. The tutoring program has received the highest certification, Level III, by the College Reading and Learning Association.

Becky is a graduate of Irmo High School, Winthrop and earned a masters degree from Virginia Tech. She began her career in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools as a teacher and coach at Harding High School. In 1983 she was named to the faculty at UNCC where she was the head volleyball coach. In 1991, Becky moved to the NCAA national office and worked in membership services until her hire at Clemson in 1998.

She has served on numerous ACC and NCAA committees since coming to Clemson. Becky is active in her church, Flat Rock Baptist Church, and serves on the School Improvement Council at Liberty Elementary where her son Jacob is in the fifth grade.  Her other sons, Isaac and Noah attend RC Edwards Middle School.
