Lobo Cross Country Holding Team Tryouts Aug. 14

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men's and women's cross country teams will be holding team tryouts on Friday, August 14 at 8:30 a.m. at the University of New Mexico’s Outdoor Track Complex.

The nationally ranked and defending six-time Mountain West champion men’s and women’s teams are aiming to sweep the conference titles once again and are looking to add new talent, starting with a team tryout in August.

In order to try out, all interested students will need to fulfill a list of requirements before arriving for their tryout, including:

  • Full-time enrollment as students (12 credit hours) at UNM for the Fall 2015 semester.

  • A signed paper from physician proving they have undergone a physical within the last calendar year (performed anytime from August 14, 2014 through August 13, 2015).

  • Proof of current health insurance (i.e., health insurance card or papers) from their health insurer.

  • Registration with the NCAA Eligibility Center, including certified final amateurism, and a Member Number.

  • Final transcripts from previous institution.

Students should arrive promptly for the tryout at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 14, ready to sign a waiver and wearing appropriate running attire.

At the tryout, the coaching staff will conduct a 3,200-meter time trial. 

Those who make the cut will be asked to stay near campus for a team meeting. It is suggest students bring a drink and snack for post-tryout.
