Paska signs first pro contract in Denmark

By Jessica Pincente

TORONTO — Ryerson Rams women’s basketball alumna Sofia Paska has signed her first professional contract and will be heading overseas to play for Lemvig Basket of the Dameligaen league in Denmark.

A three-time OUA First-Team All-Star, Paska joins Lemvig after recently graduating from Ryerson. Over five years with the Rams, Paska broke and established several program records, including in points (1506), rebounds (819), field goals made (819), and free throws made (425).

The six-foot-four forward was twice named a U SPORTS Second-Team All-Canadian and the 2017 recipient of Ryerson’s H. H. Kerr Female Athlete of the Year award.

Lemvig Basket competes in the highest level of Danish basketball, the Dameligaen. Each team in the seven-team league plays 14 regular season games, and the top four teams move onto compete in the DM finals. Lemvig finished last season with a 2-12 record and did not qualify for the postseason, but Paska’s presence on the floor will provide the team with a significant boost under the net.
