Peter-McNeilly returns home, inks contract with Edmonton Stingers
TORONTO — Ryerson Rams men’s basketball alumnus Adika Peter-McNeilly has signed a professional contract with the Edmonton Stingers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL).
Peter-McNeilly joins the Stingers after being selected by the team in the inaugural CEBL Draft in March. This professional contract marks his third since his graduation from Ryerson in 2017.
Peter-McNeilly has played overseas in Germany’s Bundesliga for the last two seasons. He averaged 6.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per game for Syntainics MBC, formerly Mitteldeutscher BC, in 2018-19. Peter-McNeilly originally signed with MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg for the 2017-18 season, his first year in the Bundesliga.
Peter-McNeilly also has experience with Canada Basketball’s Senior Men’s National Team. Alongside former Rams teammate Aaron Best, Peter-McNeilly was a part of the 2019 FIBA World Cup qualifiers team that just recently secured a spot at the upcoming tournament for the first time in nine years.
Prior to his time in Germany, Peter-McNeilly spent four years with the Rams. He became the first athlete in program history to be named a U SPORTS First-Team All-Canadian in his final season with the team; he was also named an OUA First-Team All-Star and Ryerson’s Male Athlete of the Year in 2016-17.
Peter-McNeilly joins former Rams teammates Fil Vujadinovic (Niagara River Lions) and Myles Charvis (Guelph Nighthawks) in the CEBL.
The Stingers opened up their inaugural campaign in early May and have since then accumulated a 2-2 record. Edmonton will play their next game on Friday, May 31, 2019, facing off against the Saskatchewan Rattlers at the Edmonton Expo Centre in Edmonton.
