Matt Harris was named head coach of the Ryerson Rams men's volleyball team in April of 2018 after having spent six years as an assistant with Ryerson’s coaching staff, starting with the women’s program back in 2012. Harris made the move to the men’s side in 2015-16 as an assistant coach and spent 2017-18 in a co-head coach role.

In addition to his time at Ryerson, Harris has worked with Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) clubs such as Pakmen, Scarborough Titans, Aurora Storm, Ottawa Fusion, National Capitals and Ottawa Kangaroos.

In 2017, Harris was the head coach of Ontario’s Canada Games team where he led Ontario to its first gold medal at the Games since 1993. As coach of Team Ontario he has also won multiple medals at the National Team Challenge Cup (NTCC). He also coached the Canadian Youth National Team at the US HP Tournament in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Harris played his collegiate volleyball at Algonquin College.

“It is a huge honour to have been selected to lead this program for the upcoming season,” said Harris. “Having graduated a core group of student-athletes this year, I look forward to the opportunity to build a program that makes an impact on the court, in the Ryerson community, and on the greater community as a whole. The Rams men’s volleyball program has demonstrated a lot of growth in recent years; I see the program continuing to build on this momentum in the years to come to flourish as a program that makes the Ryerson community proud.”
