Position: Head Coach

Borko Popic was named head coach of the Rams men's basketball program in June 2019 after spending three seasons as part of the team's coaching staff. 

As a teacher and head coach at St. John’s-Kilmarnock School, Popic helped seven of his student-athletes to university placements since 2012.

Popic is currently involved with Canada Basketball, where he has amassed experience providing video and statistical analysis for the Senior Men’s National Team during the 2016 FIBA Olympic qualifying tournament and the 2015 FIBA Americas Olympic Qualifier.

Popic also provided video and data analysis to the Junior Men’s National Team at the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championships and to the U16 Men’s National Team in preparation for the 2015 FIBA Americas. He is also currently involved in player development for top young prospects with the Canadian Junior Academy. 

From 2008-2012 Popic worked with as one of the site’s leading contributors – managing a global scouting network and scouting events such as the NBA Predraft Camp, NBA Summer League, Euroleague Final Four, Nike International Junior Tournament and the Nike Global Challenge amongst others to evaluate prospective players. 

Popic served as an Assistant Coach at Wilfrid Laurier University from 2010-12.

From 2008-2010 Popic worked for renowned basketball analytics platform, Synergy Sports Technology; breaking down NBA, NCAA and FIBA film. 

Popic has grassroots experience with the Waterloo Wildhawk Basketball Club, where he has coached a wide range of age groups over the last decade. 

Popic played postsecondary basketball at Virginia Military Institute and Hawaii Pacific before closing out his playing career in Canada at the University of Guelph in 2007-08.

Popic holds an English degree from the University of Guelph and a Masters of Science Education from Medaille College and is a NCCP Level 3 Train to Compete Certified Coach.
