Jim Sheehan came to Hofstra University in August 1988 as Sports Information Director. His responsibilities include serving as primary media liaison and publicist for Pride programs in field hockey, wrestling, men’s lacrosse and men’s and women’s cross country as well as editor of media guides, programs, notes, records and statistics in those sports.
Currently the Senior Sports Information Director at the University, the New York City native came to Hofstra after serving as Assistant Commissioner for Information at the Gateway Conference in St. Louis, Missouri from 1985 to 1988. He also served as Coordinator of Media Information for the Houston Gamblers of the United States Football League from October, 1984 through July, 1985 and Sports Information Director at the University of Tampa from August 1982 through October, 1984. Sheehan, who served as Sports Information Director at his alma mater Biscayne College in 1981-82, served as Information Director for the Sunshine State Conference from 1980 through 1984.
Sheehan, who holds a bachelor of arts degree in sports administration, and his wife Maureen have a daughter Jillian (19) and reside in Middle Village, New York.
