Soon to be the finest basketball facility in the mid-Atlantic, the new state-of-the-art Tiger Arena will officially open on August 1, 2013, serving as home to the Towson men's and women's basketball programs, along with gymnastics and volleyball.

The $68 million building will house 5,200 rowdy Tiger fans, including 120 courtside seats, approximately 60 private suite seats and approximately 340 loge club seats.

Additionally, Tiger Arena will also feature a practice and strength facility for student-athletes, a massive video/scoreboard system above center court, a state-of-the-art multimedia studio and much more.

Towson Center Arena

The 5,000 seat Towson Center Arena has been the home of men's and women's basketball, gymnastics and volleyball teams for more than three decades. Over the last 10 years, a number of improvements have been made to keep the facility a top notch venue for all sporting events.

A portable wooden floor was added along with several renovated locker rooms, an expanded varsity weight room and upgraded signage and decorated lobby and balcony areas.

Inside the arena which has 165,000 square feet of floor space, there are classrooms, locker rooms, a research lab, a curriculum center, a fitness center, a varsity weight room, a sports medicine room, a gymnastics room, six racquetball courts and six squash courts. The facility houses nearly 75 faculty and staff members.

Over the years the Towson Center has played host to numerous events such as concerts, receptions, the Central Maryland Job Fair, the Charm City Classic high school basketball tournament, the Battle of Baltimore college basketball tournament and several NCAA Division II regional tournaments.


Strength Training
The Varsity Athletic Weight Room was constructed in 1999 due to the generous contributions of several individuals including NFL and TU Alumni Dave Meggett, Sean Landeta and Tony Vinson.

The weight room displays some of the finest equipment in today's market including Olympic lifting platforms, Samson squat racks, an array of Cybex strength training machines, as well as dumbbell racks up to 150 lbs.

The weight room also includes a full line of cardio equipment, along with medicine balls and physio balls.


Mel Cole Room
The Mel Cole Room, located on the third floor of the Towson Center, serves as a small multipurpose/conference room. The Mel Cole Room can accommodate up to 40 guests for events ranging from meetings to luncheons. The room is also equipped with A/V equipment suitable for presentations, webinars and videos.
