HUNTSVILLE - The Bearkats rolled in their final nonconference home game with a 91-58 victory over Wiley College Sunday evening at Johnson Coliseum.

Sam Houston State (6-4) improved to 5-0 at home this season. The Bearkats now hold a seven-game nonconference home winning streak dating back to last season.

Seniors Chad Bowie and Kai Mitchell led SHSU with 15 points apiece. Sophomore Xavier Bryant scored 14, and junior Demarkus Lampley chipped in 11 to give the Bearkats four players with double digits in scoring.

Senior Dainan Swoope and junior RJ Smith, who led SHSU with eight rebounds, finished with nine and seven points, respectively. Sophomore Dajuan Jones dished out seven assists.

The Bearkats jumped out to a 17-3 lead thanks to three 3-pointers by Swoope and one from Mitchell in the first four and a half minutes and never looked back. Sophomore forward Mark Tikhonenko hit a 3 with 2 seconds left to send Sam Houston State into the half up 44-27.

The Kats shot 43 percent from the field and outrebounded the Wildcats 44-33. Sam Houston State also scored 29 points off of 18 turnovers.

Southland Conference action begins Wednesday when Northwestern State (2-6) visits Johnson Coliseum for a 6:30 p.m. tipoff.
