184.108.40.206 - The planned move of the Georgia Southern Athletics website begins the night of Saturday, June 30th, as GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com will launch not only a new look, but will also have a shorter address in GSEagles.com. Both URLs will continue to be active as the Eagles add a new online home.
A static top-level menu will aid in the navigation for all 15 Eagle sports and drop-down menus offer one-click access to news, game schedules, ticket and donor links and social media channels. A second menu bar on the main page and each sport page will highlight features and team-specific information.
More than 6,000 articles and 16,790 images and documents are being transferred to the new site and the complete archives from Sept. 2007-June 2012 will be available in the next few weeks. Enhanced functionality and new features will roll out in preparation for the 2012-13 Georgia Southern sports seasons, including new live video streaming capability and a mobile app.
A team of University staff and students led by Erik Powell and Alana DeAngelis prepared the layout and functionality of the new site, support systems and databases, offering Athletics more overall flexibility with its online presence. Business and Finance IT Director Bob Grogan oversaw the project while Darrell Bailey, Matt Grogan, Will Kennedy, Tim Stahl, Chris Sterling and Robert Thompson contributed their efforts to critical behind-the-scenes programming and administering of the site in streamlining the performance of the site for both fans and staff.
During this initial conversion stage as well as after the site is fully functional, corrections and suggestions are welcome at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Fans can follow their Eagles at GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com or GSEagles.com as well as through social media channels facebook.com/GSAthletics, twitter.com/GSAthletics and whosay.com/GSAthletics. Once the seasons begin, final scores for all sports will be available on twitter.com/gsscores.
