WASHINGTON, D.C. – Georgia State men’s soccer suffered its second defeat in conference play as Howard used two goals within the final five minutes of the match to edge past the Panthers 2-1 Saturday afternoon at Greene Stadium.

The loss dropped GSU to 7-3-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play. Howard improved to 4-8-1 on the season and 1-1 in the Sun Belt.

Georgia State got on the board first when a foul in the box led to a successful penalty kick from George Proctor in the 26th minute. The goal was Proctor’s third of the season.

Howard continued to fight and clawed its way to two goals within the final five minutes of regulation, getting the equalizer from Joseph Abusada in the 85th minute then the game-winner off a rebounded shot in the box with under a minute to play.

Each side ended the afternoon with 11 total shots, with the Bison holding an 8-7 edge in shots on target. Matthew Fearnley led GSU with four total shots and three on target.

Georgia State is back in action 2 p.m. Saturday to take on Coastal Carolina in Conway, S.C.
