ATLANTA – Georgia State men’s tennis head coach Jonathan Wolff announced the Panthers’ 2019-20 schedule Thursday morning, opening the spring slate in the Chapel Hill Regional of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend.

Before the 2020 season commences, the 2019 Sun Belt regular season champions will take part in two fall tournaments. GSU opens the fall at the ITA Southeast Regionals in Gainesville, Fla., on Oct. 24-28 and concludes the semester on Nov. 8-10 at the Wake Forest Invitational.

“We are excited to start our fall schedule with arguably one of the toughest regionals in the country,” Wolff said. “We have put in a lot of hard work on and off the court this offseason and are looking forward to the tough competition at the University of Florida.”

GSU elected to participate in the Chapel Hill Regional with the 45th pick in the men’s Kick-Off Weekend Draft in early June. Second-seeded Georgia State, ranked No. 65 in the final ITA Division I team rankings, will take on three-seed (No. 66) Old Dominion in the opening round, with the winner taking on top-seed (No. 7) North Carolina or four-seed (No. 73) Elon in the regional final.

“We’re also eager to open up the spring with the ITA Kick-Off Weekend at the University of North Carolina with an opening round matchup against Old Dominion as it’s been a couple years since we participated in the prestigious event," Wolff said. "We have more great opportunities later on against power-five opponents before we open up as defending regular season champions in conference play.”

The Panthers round out the month of January by traveling to Knoxville, Tenn. to take on Tennessee on Jan. 31 and Wichita State on Feb. 1.

Georgia State takes on three Power-Five opponents in its following three contests, as the Panthers play at Georgia Tech on Feb. 7, at Clemson on Feb. 9 and at Auburn on Feb. 14.

Wolff’s club then returns home for the rest of February to host FAU on Feb. 22, Stetson and Mercer on Feb. 23, South Florida on Feb. 28 and UNC Wilmington on Feb. 29.

On March 7-8 the Panthers travel to Charlotte, N.C. to square off against North Florida and Charlotte before another long home-stretch.

GSU hosts VCU on March 15 before its Sun Belt opener against Louisiana on March 21. The team takes on UT Arlington on March 22, then takes a break from conference play with match against ETSU on March 26. The Panthers round out their home-stretch with contests against South Alabama on March 28 and Troy on March 29.

Georgia State goes on the road to face Appalachian State on April 3, Coastal Carolina on April 5 and MTSU on April 10 before its final home match of the season on April 12 against rival Georgia Southern.

The Sun Belt Conference Tournament is set for April 16-19 in Peachtree City, Ga.
