Baylor’s Hannah Lockin, Kara McGhee and Tara Wulf were all named Big 12 Volleyball weekly award winners, marking the first time since 2017 that a Big 12 institution swept the honors, also Baylor.
On her way to Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, Lockin recorded her best three-set performances of the season when she had 39 and 46 assists over two ranked opponents. She helped three Bears reach double-digit kills against Hawaii. The junior averaged a league-leading 14.17 assists/set last week, almost three more than the next player. Her efforts helped BU lead the Big 12 in hitting percentage, assists per set and kills per set in week three.
The Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, Wulf, anchored the Baylor defense and led the league in digs/set last week, averaging 4.67/set. She matched a season-best 16 digs against No. 13 Hawaii in three sets, improving BU's season average to 14.83 digs/set. Her 16-dig effort was tied for the best in a three-set match, and her 12-dig effort against No. 17 Missouri was also top five.
McGhee earned rookie honors as she assisted the Bears in its two sweeps over ranked opponents. She posted two blocks and four kills on a .444 effort against No. 17 Missouri, then registered a season-best 11 kills on a .500 efficiency in the middle to help BU sweep No. 13 Hawaii. Her .481 hitting percentage against the Rainbow Wahine was the best by a rookie in week three.
This week’s awards mark the third for Lockin, second for Wulf and for McGhee.
