Husker Trio Named WGCA All-American Scholars
Haley Thiele, Kirsten Baete and Megan Whittaker earned WGCA Scholastic All-America awards for Nebraska when the Women's Golf Coaches Association announced its All-America Scholar Team on July 8.
Thiele, a 2018-19 junior from Wahoo, Nebraska, earned her third career WGCA All-America Scholar Award. Thiele, who is expected to compete as a fifth-year senior for the Huskers in 2019-20, captured her first WGCA award as a true freshman for the Huskers in 2016, before adding her second honor in 2018.
Baete, a redshirt freshman from Beatrice, Nebraska, claimed the first WGCA All-America Scholar Award. She and Thiele were joined by true freshman Megan Whittaker from Elkhorn.
All three Huskers maintained at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA while making significant contributions to the Nebraska lineup on the course in 2018-19.
Since 1989, the Nebraska women's golf program has amassed 77 WGCA Scholastic All-America awards.
