In February of 2015, The College of William and Mary announced the hiring of Chelsey Burk as the Assistant Athletics Director overseeing the department’s athletics business office.
Burk, who is in her second tenure with the Tribe, brings a diverse range of experiences to the Williamsburg campus.
Just prior to taking her current role, Burk had served as the Department of Accounting Program Coordinator at Virginia Commonwealth University. It was a position that saw her manage the daily business operations of the Accounting Department and the Controllers Executive RoundTable organization. She was responsible for the development of the annual budget requests for all operating expenses, adjunct faculty, and student/hourly workers
Before working at VCU, Burk served as the Athletic Business Manager at California University of Pennsylvania for four years (between 2010 – 2014).
Her responsibilities included overseeing the daily operations of the Athletic Business Office, which handled budgeting and finance for all 18 intercollegiate sports. She was also responsible for managing the Department travel reimbursements, general invoices, post season competition expenses, official payments, recruiting reimbursements, and game day ticket sales in accordance with NCAA, University, and State regulations
Burk’s first stint at the College came from 2008 – 2010 as the Athletics Business Manager. While working with the Tribe, she managed the travel and recruiting budgets for all 23 varsity sports.
As an undergrad at the University of Kansas, Burk was a member of the varsity golf squad while earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies. During her time with the Jayhawks, she was a three-time Academic All-big 12 first-team selection and was a three time NGCA All-American Scholar. In 2008, Burk earned her Master’s degree from Cal U in Sport Management with a concentration in Intercollegiate Athletic Administration.
Burk currently resides in Williamsburg, with her husband Jason.
