Patricia Moran serves as the Assistant Director of Athletics Business Operations and joined the Tribe in December of 2012. She came to W&M after earning her master’s degree and working at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
In her position at W&M, Moran directs and manages the business and financial operations of the Athletics Department to ensure efficient planning, operations, allocation and accounting of funds and resources. She helps to manage the departmental budget, including authorization of procurement of athletic goods for all 23 teams and administrative areas, while overseeing the day-to-day operations for the business office.
Moran received her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Ave Maria in Ave Maria, Fla. She also minored in chemistry and earned a business administration certificate from the school in 2009. She attended Georgetown and earned her master’s degree in sports industry management, focusing on strategic marketing, communications and new media in 2010. During her time at Georgetown, she was a Student Enterprise Association Member, serving as the South Africa World Cup (FIFA) Externship Student Vice-President. In 2012, she earned an Executive Leadership Certificate from Cornell, concentrating in risk and return in capital budgeting decisions and raising capital, strategic thinking, scenario planning
At Georgetown, Moran spent three years in the athletics business office. She was the business operations assistant from 2010-11, assisting in the day-to-day operations of the athletics business office. Some of her duties included processing deposits and documentation pertaining to each sport, filing office documents, processing AP documents including contracts and purchase order requisitions and ProCard reconciliations. Staring in November of 2011 until coming to W&M, Moran was a business administrator at Georgetown, which included serving as the coordinator for contract and purchase order activity for the department while working closely with the University Purchasing and Contracts Office.
She also spent time working with NBC Universal Sports and D.C. United of Major League Soccer. Moran was a production assistant and tape librarian for NBC Universal’s Wimbledon and French Open coverage from 2005-08. With D.C. United, Moran was the executive office intern for Kevin Payne, CEO. While earning her bachelor’s degree at Ave Maria, she worked in the university’s residence life, assisting various departments, including development, planned giving, the President and Chancellor’s Office, student life, financial aid and the registrar. Moran also served as the freshman orientation logistics coordinator during her time and was a resident assistant.
Moran is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators (NACWAA) and was a sponsorship committee member in 2011 with the organization. She is also a member of the Collegiate Athletics Business Managers Association (CABMA). She served as a volunteer as a variety of events during her career, including as a Homeless Soccer World Cup regionals volunteer in 2009, ESPN “Homecoming with Rick Reilly” featuring Alonso Mourning in 2009, Georgetown University Midnight Madness in 2009 and 2010, Sports Entertainment Marking Experience (SEME) Marketing in 2010 and the 2011 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. She was also a CCD Teacher at St. Thomas More Cathedral in 2011 and 2012.
