Heath Adds Jenkins To Coaching Staff
CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston Head Coach Matt Heath has added Ryan Jenkins to his coaching staff.
Jenkins previously worked with the Auburn baseball program the last two years and served as strength and conditioning coach during the 2016 season.
“Ryan is a tremendous asset for our program,” Heath said. “He has an extremely strong background in baseball that is very versatile – working with both pitchers and hitters. Ryan will make a huge impact in developing our players on-and-off the field.”
A former four-year letterwinner for the Tigers from 2006-10 as a catcher, Jenkins was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 17th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft. He went on to play in the Royals’ minor league system from 2010-12. Jenkins returned to Auburn in 2013 to complete his bachelor’s degree in sociology and served as a student assistant coach during the 2014 season.
Originally from Millbrook, Ala., Jenkins was named to the All-SEC team in 2010 after hitting .365 with seven home runs and 34 RBI, while making 48 starts behind the plate.
