MONARCH MEDIA: RACE RECAP:

NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion women's crew team kicked off the spring season on Saturday with several impressive results against North Carolina and Delaware.

The Lady Monarchs' Varsity 8 dominated the competition with a 13-second margin of victory over the UNC boat and a 19-second margin win over Delaware.

The Second Varsity 8 picked up a win over the Tar Heels. Finishing in a time of 7:41.4, ODU crossed the finish line ahead of UNC by four seconds. Against Delaware, the Lady Monarchs were edge out by just .8 seconds.

The Varsity 4 continued their strong performance this season with a pair of dominating wins as well. The ODU boat raced to a time of 8:39.2, well ahead of the Tar Heels' 9:01.6 finish. During the Delaware race, the Lady Monarchs stroked to a time of 9:00.4, 17 seconds ahead of the Blue Hens.

The Frosh/Novice 8 were edged out in both their races.  

The Old Dominion women's rowing team returns to the water at Virginia on March 24th.
