The University of Maryland is home to one of the premiere intercollegiate athletics programs in the country. The Terrapins have combined to win 44 men's and women's national championships. The success of Maryland athletics is felt throughout the state and Maryland Pride has become synonymous with the Terrapins.

 School Colors

 School mascot
Testudo, the official mascot of the University of Maryland, is not your ordinary Diamondback terrapin. For over sixty years, he has been the symbol for this campus, overseeing us in good times and bad. It is not easy work, and Testudo has experienced firsthand the dangers involved in being a source of campus pride.  national championships
Eight Terrapin programs have combined to win a total of 44 national championships for the University of Maryland, which is the 2nd most of any Big Ten school. Click here for a more in-depth look at Maryland's National Championship Tradition.
 conference championships
Since joining the Big Ten for the 2014-15 season, the Terrapins have been extremely successful, capturing 16 team titles - tied for the most in that span with Michigan. Maryland totaled 196 championships as a member of the ACC and 11 in the Southern Conference, bringing its total of conference titles to an astounding 223.

 mighty sound of maryland
The Mighty Sound of Maryland provides a college experience like no other, performing at every home football game, traveling to at least one away game per year, and creating the loudest and most dedicated Terrapin cheering section anywhere!  victory & fight songs
The Victory Song and Fight Song are heard during Maryland football games and have become an important part of the atmosphere at Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium.  Terrapin Spirit Squad
The Terrapin Spirit Squad is an integral part of the pageantry and excitement of Maryland Athletics. This group of students currently supports football, men's basketball, and women's basketball.  dance team
The Maryland Dance Team is part of the excitement and tradition of Maryland Athletics. The squad performs at all home football and men’s basketball games, as well as making appearances at select away games and other University of Maryland Athletic events.
