 Zack Lewis

Senior (2015-16): Earned an CAA All-Academic team nod, and posted a 16-10 record in singles play for the Cougars in 2016. Lewis played everywhere from the No. 1 singles flight, to the No. 5 flight, proving to be a versatile player for the Cougars.  He posted his best record in the No. 4 singles spot, winning nine of his 11 matches.  Lewis was also a mainstay in doubles play, posting a record of 13-10 through the 23 matches he participated in. Lewis played an invaluable role in the College’s run towards its first CAA Championship, winning crucial matches in the No.4 singles spot in all three of the tournament matches, including a 6-2, 6-2, win over No. 67 UNCW’s Aviv Ben Shabat in the finals. Lewis earned the CAA Men's Tennis Player of the Week Award for the week of April 4-11. 

Junior (2014-15): Won all four of his matches at the No. 4 singles spot, and put together an overall singles record of 15-5 on the season. Participated in eight matches in the No. 2 doubles slot, winning two of them with partner Charlie Ghriskey. 

Sophomore (2013-14): Lewis followed up his stellar opening season in Charleston with another strong --run of for in 2014, going 18-5 in singles play and 12-4 in doubles playing alongside teammates Alon Faiman, Charlie Ghriskey, Josh Record and Matt Daly…Won his first three matches of the year against in-state opposition Wofford, Spartanburg Methodist and Limestone…After dropping a tough result against No. 48 UNCW, Lewis ran rampant, winning his next nine matches on the trot (14 of his last 15) including wins against No. 75 Presbyterian and No. 57 Iowa as well as conference victories against Hoftsra and Madison…Picked up his final win of the season against Delaware in the Cougars opening match of the 2014 CAA Championships.  

Freshman (2012-13): Earned All-Southern Conference Second Team honors and was selected as a member of the All-Freshman team…Named Southern Conference Player of the Week for April 8-14… Compiled an 18-3 record between No. 4-6 singles along with a 10-8 mark in doubles with teammate Alon Faiman… Clinched the Appalachian State match with a win in No. 5 singles…Closed out the crosstown rivalry match against The Citadel in No. 6 singles…Captured a flight championship with doubles partner Matt Daly at the UVA Fall Classic… Was the singles Flight 7 champion at the 49ers Pick’Em Invitational.

High School: Four-star recruit out of Lexington Catholic High School in Lexington, Ky…Ranked third in the state of Kentucky, 15th in the Southeast and 64th nationally in the Class of 2012 by the Tennis Recruiting Network…Was the MVP of his high school team all five years…Four-Time First Team All-State selection…Five-Time First Team All-Regional honoree…Won the State Doubles Tournament for the first time in school history during his sophomore year…Played 20 matches per year with a 100-6 overall record…Earned the Sportsmanship Award at the 2012 Southern Closed USTA Tournament…Made it to the Kalamazoo Doubles Semifinals in 2010…Member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club and National Spanish Society…Won the Honors Trig/Precalculus Award in 2011...Achieved a 3.9 grade-point average throughout high school…Volunteered at Shriners Hospital for three years...Special Olympics volunteer...Also did volunteer work at the Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning in the summer of 2011.

Personal: Son of Jim and Jenny Lewis…Biology major at College of Charleston…Chose Cofc because of its academic reputation and great location…His goal at CofC is to play No. 1 singles by his senior year, to earn Freshman of the Year honors, to make the NCAA Tournament all four years and to make the All-Academic Team all four years…His career ambition is to work in health care…During the summer
