BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State gymnastics program and
co-head coaches Tina Bird and Neil Resnick are pleased to announce the signing
of Molly McFarland (Costa Mesa, Calif.) to a National Letter of Intent for the
2012-13 season. McFarland signed her letter of intent earlier this week.
"We are super excited to add Molly to our roster," said Bird. "She is an
excellent gymnast, an excellent student and is sure to help our team reach its
goals."
McFarland comes to Boise State as an all-around competitor from Team OC
Gymnastics in Costa Mesa, Calif., where she competed as a Level 10 gymnast. Most
recently she competed at the 2012 Junior Olympic (J.O.) National Championships
where she garnered a 13
th-place finish in the all-around. She also
earned a sixth-place finish at the 2012 regional and a fourth-place finish at
the 2012 SoCal State Championships in the all-around. In 2011 she was the J.O.
National Invitational Tournament (NIT) 10th-place finisher in the
all-around, while gathering second-place finishes on vault and floor. One year
earlier she was the NIT runner-up in the all-around, as well as national
champion on bars.
Along with a decorated gymnastics career, McFarland boasts a solid high school
resume' as an Honor Roll member, the 2007 Norman Stillwell Award winner, the 2011
Daughters of the American Revolution Award winner and the U.S. Marine
Distinguished Athlete Award winner. Outside
of gymnastics, McFarland also competed in swimming and water polo for Estancia
High School.
"Molly will bring great character and work ethic, as well as many
high level skills to our team," said Resnick.
McFarland joins Krystine Jacobsen and Maddie Krentz, who signed NLI's in the
fall of 2011, as freshmen on the Boise State gymnastics 2012-13 roster.
