|Lopez Homers For Softball at WAC Tournament|
Las Cruces, N.M.-Breanna Lopez hit her 10th home run of the season, but that was the only run the San Jose State softball team could push across in a 5-1 loss to #11 Hawaii in the Western Athletic Conference Softball Tournament.
With two outs in the third, Lopez drove the ball over the left center field fence to tie the game at 1-1. Her 10th home run is just three short of the season record of 13 set by Brittany McConnell in 2008. Lopez now has 16 career home runs, cementing her into third place on the list.
The Spartans had just three hits in the game - Lopez's home run in the third, a Cheryl Freitas single to right in the fourth and a BranDee Garcia single to center in the seventh.
In the circle, Amanda Pridmore dropped her record to 18-14 on the season as she pitched her 24th complete game. She struck out seven but walked five in the loss. Pridmore now has 195 strikeouts on the season.
San Jose State faces Fresno State later Thursday night in an elimination game. The game could start any time after 8 p.m. MDT/7 p.m. PDT.
