San Jose-Sydney LaFollette, a 6-0 front row player at South Hills High School, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play volleyball at San Jose State University beginning in the Fall of 2012, as announced by Spartan head coach Oscar Crespo.
LaFollette was a starting middle blocker and outside hitter at South Hills High School (West Covina, Calif.). She was a second team All-Sierra League selection this past season. LaFollette was named the CIF Player of the Week this past season after recording a team-best 22 kills and eight blocks in a match against Chino Hills. She plays for Pacific Juniors Volleyball Club in Upland, Calif.
A standout pitcher in softball, she led her team to the CIF Southern Section Finals for the past two years. LaFollette was an all-league, all-valley and All-CIF selection and the 2010 Co-MVP of the Sierra League.
Off the court, LaFollette is an Honors/AP student. She has been a member of the Assisteens non-profit organization for six years and received the Presidential Service Award for giving over 200 hours a year of her time to service.
"Sydney will be a nice addition to our program," said Crespo. "She gives us more depth and competitiveness among our hitters." # # # |
