LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State volleyball team is hosting a spring tournament at the Pan American Center, Saturday, April 7.
Playing with NM State in the tournament is in-state rival New Mexico, Arizona, UTEP, Western New Mexico and the Aggie Alumni. Play starts at 8am (MT) with NM State taking on Arizona on court one and UTEP faces WNMU on court two. The tournament is free and open to the public.
"This is a good opportunity for our fans to get out and see what the regional teams are working on and a good opportunity for us to reconnect with the community," head coach Mike Jordan said.
Arizona made the NCAA Tournament last year, while NM State and UNM just missed out. UTEP has continuously improved throughout the years while the addition of the Aggie Alumni team will bring different competition. Former Aggies such as Michelle Kuester, Whitney Woods, Jennah DeVries, Krista Altermatt and Kelli Goodan will be on the NM State Alumni team.
The purpose of the tournament is for each team to play different competition and for each team to learn about their strengths and weaknesses. Each match will consist of two sets to 25 points.
