The win included individual titles for Alyssa Click on the uneven bars (9.875) and balance beam (9.925) and a floor title for Brittney Jensen (9.825).
The Thunderbirds opened with a school-record 49.175 on the uneven bars as each of the scoring gymnasts tallied a 9.800 or better. The group was headlined by Click with a 9.875, earning her first of two individual titles of the afternoon, but was followed closely by Rochelle Bernier with a career-best 9.850. Brooke Cersosimo and Michaela Chernoch's matching 9.825's and Jamie Armijo's 9.800 rounded out the team score. The record start gave Southern Utah an early six-tenths lead on the Cougars as BYU began with a 48.550 on vault. Natalie Eyre-Pickard and Krysten Koval garnered the individual title on that event with matching 9.800's. SUU finished its second rotation with a 48.375 on vault with Bernier leading the way with a 9.775. Brigham Young faltered on bars, having to count a pair of falls and finished the event with a 48.025. The lead continued to grow following the third rotation (146.425-145.375) as Southern Utah recorded its second season-best mark of the night with a 48.875 on floor. Jensen's 9.875 was tops on the team and marked the first individual title for the freshman this season. Kennedy and Jeffrey were close behind with 9.800's as Jaworski (9.750) and Click (9.700) rounded out the team score. Southern Utah had to count its first fall of the afternoon as the Thunderbirds suffered a pair of falls on the balance beam despite a strong start on the rotation from Jaworski. The freshman scored a 9.800 and was joined by Kennedy's 9.850 and Click's 9.925 helping to buoy up the final team score of 48.375.
