Rebekah Schmidt is in her third season as Assistant Athletic Trainer at Marist. She will be directly responsible for the well-being of the women's soccer, men's and women's swimming and diving and men's lacrosse teams at Marist.
Schmidt previously worked as a graduate assistant at Barry University in Miami, Fla. While at Barry she covered the women's soccer and baseball programs, and was an approved clinical instructor for the students in the CAATE accredited Athletic Training program. She also taught undergraduate courses. During her studies she worked with clients dealing with psychological issues of injury and helping them return to play.
Schmidt holds a bachelor's degree from Northeastern University where she graduated cum laude with a degree in athletic training. She then earned her master's in sports psychology at Barry, completing the degree in May 2010.
She holds certifications as an American Red Cross CPR/AED Instructor, water safety instructor and lifeguarding. Additionally, Schmidt is credentialed by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) Board of Certification.
A native of Waterford, Conn., Schmidt currently resides in Poughkeepsie.
